Making Retirement Rewarding. The emphasis is that the club be simple in structure, be free of the constraints and obligations of service clubs, involve members in a minimal cost. The club is directed primarily to providing fellowship between members who are compatible with each other, and the opportunity for development of acquaintance. Monthly meetings will usually include a guest speaker, a coffee break that allows for social time and a short business meeting with activity group invitation, reports and updates. The Probus Club of Saskatoon is welcoming new members and invites you to join us for your first meeting for free. Let us know that you are coming! Come to see if this Club is a ‘good fit’ for you. Events have club members visit organizations or places, sports and social activities of every conceivable nature. Arising out of their membership activities there is a self-generating goodwill, a sense of belonging, a diverse background of interests, ensuring for Probus a highly successful future as a firmly established part of the community. Indeed the general public often recognize that although the club itself is not involved in service work or fundraising, the persons in the Probus clubs, are perceived to be collectively but separately involved in a wide range of volunteer pursuits, even greater than most service clubs. Activities and fun outings have included: playing card games, bowling, discussing books, walking, tours or other activities you would like to start! Take the leap, check us out with a visit and meet new friends and have a ton of fun. History: The Probus Club of Saskatoon was inaugurated on 1 October 2008. Did you know? The PBS 20th anniversary is coming up in 2028. When the Probus Club of Saskatoon was founded in 2008, those who joined during the inaugural year were designated as Charter Members. The name Probus—which some think may be derived from Professional and Business—reflects its historical origins, and embraces all retirees from all walks of life. The etymology of Probus means "good, superior, or excellent" from the Latin. Did you know? Probity originates from the Latin word probitas, meaning "worthiness" or "goodness," which in turn comes from probus, meaning "worthy" or "good." So, a good club to join.
Probus clubs provide regular opportunities for retirees and semi-retirees to stay mentally engaged, explore new interests, and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded people.
