Monthly Meetings

The Probus Club of Saskatoon has a speakers committee that actively reaches out to the community to secure engaging and interesting speakers speaking about 1/2 hour for the monthly meetings, held on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 AM. The entire meeting lasts approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Additionally, the Social Committee organizes coffee/tea, doughnuts/cookies and nametags at meetings. Special Events

For 2026, the upcoming evening night out will celebrate "Valentine's Day" with a supper Feb 11 which happens to also mark "Make a Friend Day"! The Probus Club of Saskatoon’s executive organizes special events throughout the year, which may include Christmas luncheons, Mardi Gras celebrations, and/or St. Patrick’s Day suppers, offering members the chance to enjoy festive gatherings and celebrate together.

"Guess Whose Coming To Dinner" - a Proposed New Activity!

Guess Whose Coming to Dinner?

Interest is now being gathered for a proposed new social activity, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?”, launching in 2026, where six randomly selected members will share a lighthearted relaxed, no-pressure meal at a host’s home—without anyone knowing who they’ll be dining with until they arrive. This fun, mystery-filled evening is designed to spark new friendships, encourage lively conversation, share stories and strengthen our Probus community. Luncheon Group

Tour Group

The Probus Club of Saskatoon has a tour group that explores the sights of Saskatoon, including local businesses and heritage sites, etc. A new tour is arranged each month, offering members the chance to discover and learn more about the city’s history and attractions. (Image cc1.2 courtesy DRM210)

Book Clubs

The Probus Club of Saskatoon hosts three book clubs, each focused on different books, genres and themes, providing members with an opportunity to engage in lively discussions, share reading recommendations, and deepen their love for literature. Book Club #1 generally meets on Monday afternoons at 1:00 PM. Book Club #2 is currently on hold. The Online Book Club#3 regularly meets the 3rd Friday of the month.

Card Games

The Probus Club of Saskatoon has three groups that meet regularly to play cards, including cribbage (Every other Friday), progressive hand and foot canasta (Every other Tuesday), and bridge (3rd Thursday), offering members a fun and social way to connect, enjoy friendly competition, and hone their skills in these classic games. Walking Group

The Walking Group continues to be a wonderful way for members to enjoy both fresh air and friendship. Each walk lasts about an hour, meeting up at 10am every Friday, & participants are encouraged to walk at their own pace—whether you prefer a brisk stride or a more leisurely stroll, there’s room for everyone. After the walk, the group gathers at 11am for coffee & conversation, which has become just as enjoyable as the walk itself.

The group meets year-round, in all kinds of weather, making the most of Saskatoon’s changing seasons. From bright summer mornings to the crisp days of autumn, and even the frosty beauty of winter, the walks are a chance to experience our city’s greenspaces at their best.

Bowling

The Probus Club of Saskatoon’s 5-pin bowling group continues to entertain each other every Tuesday morning 10:00 a.m. Play wraps up around 11:30 a.m., with many participants staying on to enjoy lunch together afterward.

Currently, about 20 members are registered—a great turnout! The cost is approximately $14.00 per person, which includes two games and free shoe rental.

Come roll a few frames, share some laughs, and join the fun! Providing members with a fun and active way to enjoy friendly competition and camaraderie.

Club Affairs

The Probus Club of Saskatoon is dedicated to managing club affairs, such as maintaining the roster, handling member relations. The Communications or Newsletter Editor ensures the timely distribution of the newsletter, while the Audiovisual team provides technical support, including IT setup for speakers. Additionally, the Health Communicator sends out well wishes to members who are sick or in the hospital, fostering a caring and supportive community.

Executive

A non-profit club like the Probus Club of Saskatoon wouldn't be complete without an executive team, which includes the President, Vice President or President Elect, Treasurer, Past President, and Secretary. The District Director communicates with Probus Canada to ensure the club remains connected and aligned with national initiatives. Interest Groups or Activity Groups are what keep things lively throughout the year! The key to a great Interest Group is having Coordinators – just someone who’s happy to share the details of an event or share an interest to start an activity group. And hey, this doesn’t have to be all on one person – it can easily be a shared role. No need to stress, this is all about having fun! A few people can come together to create a group of like-minded folks to share an activity or experience.

Probus Club of Saskatoon: A Snapshot of Past Activities

The Probus Club of Saskatoon has evolved with member interests, offering a wide range of activities. From the Apple iPads and iPhone Group to the Wine Tasting / Wine and Cheese events, there was something for everyone. Members enjoyed the Wood working-Wood turning group, Barbecue Group, Cycling, Fishing Trips, and Golf Tournaments. Other activities included Card Games (Mahjongg, Scrabble, Whist, Kaiser), Chess Club, Curling, Horseshoes, and Scrabble. The Movie Group, Camera Club, Music Committee, Musicians Group, and Concert Group provided entertainment and creative outlets. Sewing for Community Projects, the Genealogy Club, and the Volunteer Club gave back to the community, while the Puzzle Exchange, Art Appreciation, Murder Mystery Book Group, and Dinner Group kept members engaged. The Community Services Group, Indoor Walking Group, Knitting, Crocheting, Quilting, Arts & Crafts, and Open Mic, or "A Moment of Notoriety" brought members together for fun, learning, and support. The Round Table was an opportunity for members to share ideas with the executive on improving the club.
